Great 'Kiwanis One Day' Work at Belle Isle Marsh
The East Boston Kiwanis Club joined many other community service organizations today (4/2/11) taking part in Kiwanis International's "Kiwanis One Day" of service to the community. We participated in the cleanup of the Belle Island Marsh Reservation in East Boston, Revere and Winthrop.

We were joined by members of the Revere Kiwanis Club, the East Boston High School Key Club, the East Boston High School Jr. ROTC, the Girl Scouts from Winthrop, the Police Cadets from Winthrop, and the Friends of the Belle Isle Marsh. We had about 75 people in all helping to pick up litter and debris, digging out roots and stones, planting Bayberry trees and other shrubs, and picking up sticks and downed branches from the harsh winter.

Thank you to all who participated! Thanks to Kiwanis Club President Marisa DiPietro and Kiwanis One Day Chairman Joe Ferrino and the rest of the East Boston Kiwanis contingent on hand. Thanks to Bill Barney and the Revere club members. Thanks to Stacy Michelle Reed and the Eastie High Key Clubbers. Thanks to Col. Wellman and the large contingent of ROTC members on hand. Thanks to Dottie and the Winthrop Girl Scouts, and to Sgt. Scarpa and the Police Cadets. And thank you to Ranger Jeff for putting us to work!

President Marisa will be posting some photos from the cleanup, so keep an eye out for them!
